This ambitious project restored almost 1 km of chalk stream habitat, by reintroducing gravels to the river bed and restoring the bank profiles to create better marginal habitat and more diversity in the shape of the river channel. At the same time ARK installed a nature like fish bypass channel around a historic mill structure, allowing fish to swim freely up and down the river again.
During the project the community were involved through wildlife monitoring, riverside walks, riverside craft events for children, and events in schools to teach children about the wildlife in and around the Kennet.
