The Water Vole is Britain’s fastest declining mammal.
In recent years there have been regular sightings of this endearing mammal, often at stretches of river accessible to the public if the habitat is right.
ARK has held Water vole surveying training sessions and now has a team of trained volunteer surveyors that can survey for Britain’s fastest declining mammal. Using a nationally recognised method they can be fully confident with identifying the evidence to assess whether water voles are present and record it. This data is shared with Water Vole Recovery Project and allows us to keep records and revisit sites to see how this protected native species is faring year on year.
