The Canal and Rivers Trust is the charity entrusted with the care of 2000 miles of canals and some rivers in England and Wales. www.canalrivertrust.org.uk
Natural England is the public body responsible for protecting and improving England’s natural environment and encouraging people to enjoy and get involved in their surroundings. www.naturalengland.org.uk
Thames Water is the water company in the Kennet catchment. www.thameswater.co.uk
On the 11th August 1951 the Kennet and Avon Canal Association was formed, which became The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust on 6th June 1962 thus enabling charitable status. Together with British Waterways and the Riparian Councils, the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust aims to ‘Protect, Enhance and Promote’ the canal. It is through this love and passion that the canal was restored to its current state. The volunteers were finally rewarded when the Queen opened the locks in 1990. www.kennetandavontrust.co.uk
The Reading and District Angling Associaion looks after the angling on significant sections of the River Kennet. The association has 30 afflilated clubs. www.rdaa.co.uk
THE KENNET VALLEY FISHERY ASSOCIATION
The Kennet Valley Fishery Association, which was originally formed in 1922, was reformed in 1973. Its principle objective is to represent and act for the membership in protecting the Rivers Kennet, Pang and their tributaries, which have long been renowned for the quality of their fisheries.
Membership includes riparian owners, angling clubs and associations, and individual anglers, and is drawn from the whole of the main Kennet from above Marlborough down to Reading, together with the Lambourn and other tributaries, and the Pang.
